The Scott King Award was created in 2022 to celebrate hospitality professionals that go above and beyond for the hospitality industry and their community. For 20 years, the owner of the Travelodge by Wyndham Weyburn, Saskatchewan; George and the Siourounis family, have been going the extra mile by running events like the annual charity golf tournament, which has raised nearly $400,000. Donations have supported medical equipment for the Weyburn General Hospital, the Weyburn Ambulance, supporting the Continuing Care Assistant and practical nursing programs at Southeast College and Inclusion Weyburn and Envision for the last three years in a row.
As George was unable to attend the conference this year, Trevor Hagel, Executive Vice President, Operations, Travelodge Canada (pictured) accepted the award on his behalf. “I would like to offer our sincere congratulations to the Siourounis family for winning this award. It is a tremendous achievement to be selected from so many worthy candidates across Canada and the United States. The dedication the Siourounis family has shown to running an exemplary property and consistently finding time to enrich the community with events such as their annual charity golf tournament, which has greatly improved the town of Weyburn, is truly remarkable”.
